Outback Adventure!
Back in civilisation!
On Walkabout
Well, I am finally here. In the real Outback. With real 100+ temps in the day and down to 60's at night. I am excited about my week here and exploring and walking in places my dad talked of often. It is from here to Brisbane he spent 4 growling years in WWII South Pacific campaign. And I have already seen and feel why …
Last day in Alice, and the Red Center
Wow. What an experience that was....and will never have anything like that again to even come close. Sunrise at Uluru was spectacular, and all the things happening in this red, hot desert, around that Big Red Rock. We had 2-3 dingos who showed up during the night, and not surprised after we had cooked our dinner. But the more surprising thing, one …
One last trek to the Outback
Yesterday and this morning were days of rest and absorbing all I have seen and experienced while here in Alice. As each day goes by, I feel the closeness and special relationships between the Aboriginal here in Alice, and the residents of this small town in the Red Center. And red sand everywhere. This afternoon I am leaving to go back out into …
Relaxing on my daughter's birthday

Today has been hottest day yet, predictions of it rising above 115. I plan on doing nothing today but stay in shade ( the UV rays here are incredible: breaking thru shade and layers of sunscreen). Hopefully it will cool down before my day excursion on Thursday …

I was impressed with the big movie screen they have in the courtyard. We watched a few movies outside and got to meet a few other travellers while we were there. The staff helped plan my trip out to Uluru. There's not a lot happening in Alice Springs, so I wouldn't plan on spending more than a night or two here.
