... up for that with a hell of a lot of conversation! It was nice though, I had a nice few hours there and then went to sleep in the evening after half a watermelon. I had to sleep with the cat (very scary looking thing - see the photos!) and with all the chinchillas darting around all over the place, it was definatly an experiance.
In the morning I had breakfast with Oleg and then left on the bus to the centre of Haifa ariving at the Bahai gardens just in time ...

Ilana disapproved; she said, "You're getting more and more eccentric all the time." I'd meant to continue, "... but I'll always swing with someone who loves it." But, it was too late; Ilana wasn't listening anymore. The next morning, when I got to the hostel, Daniel handed me some pudding. Ilana led us to a local, cheese-making home, where she'd allegedly once been given a taste-testing feast at no charge. Daniel treated us to cheese and ...
Tzfat, Israel modernoddyseus... boarding school in the area. We continued up the coast to Acre(Akko) to the Crusader castle that we were going to tour. The first mention of this place goes back to the 19th century BC and has had a very long and conflicting history. After wandering for a couple of hours in the heat, I saw my favorite part-the hammam. It was in use until 1940 and has a lot of the original tile work still on the walls but there was a multimedia presentation about ...
Acre, Israel kcroone... rule, some one hundred nightly orders were based here (mostly consisting of knights who had taken these lands in the crusades and decided to stay for religious or financial or inertia based reasons). The Hosteliers were one of the more famed branches and were entrusted to assist Christian pilgrims who landed at Acco to begin their land-based journey to Jerusalem. We had a nice stroll through the old fort and marveled at the immense size of the three story rooms with ...
Acre, Israel jenandjeffmilum... that occurred 2000 years ago. From Capernaum we drove the short distance to what is called the Mount of Beatitudes. This is the traditional site where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. There is a beautiful octagonal Catholic church on the site, with some pleasant gardens round about. We sat on some steps in the gardens and took turns reading from the Matthew 5, 6 and 7, as we looked down on the Sea of Galilee and the fertile fields on ...
Tiberias, Galilee, Israel joelmeeker... a few beers and sweets with the Japanese whilst sitting on the rooftop of our hotel. Whilst returning from buying our beer (for the second time), there were a whole lot of people with M16's running towards us. It scared the absolute sh*t out of me before we all realised that it was obviously a training drill for members of the military, some sort of scavenger hunt or something around the old city. It was quite surreal to see teenagers running around he ...
