Not bad. The first 2 nights I was in a 10 bed mixed dorm. Third night (after my sailing trip) I was in an 8 bed female dorm which was much bigger and brighter with an ocean view, but same price as the previous dorm. Full of Europeans. Europeans with tans. Very echoey stairwells and you can always hear the door slamming. Friendly staff.

Extremely friendly staff and lovely people in my dorm. The hostel was right on the water - aptly named - and even had a roof terrace

Overall I was really happy with my stay at this hostel. Reception was exceptionally accommodating when I wanted to change rooms, store luggage and book a tour. AND you get a free nights stay by booking thru them!

Day out in Airlie Beach and dinner with the girls

Probably aided by a hangover and late checkout time, we have designated today as an exploratory day of Airlie town, and don't make it out for much of the morning. We begin by walking around town, which being so small doesn't take long to figure out where to grab a coffee and cake. We enjoy the Coastal Boardwalk heading North, and loop it back …

Whitsundays day sailing and night out

Our skipper tells us that during the night, another boat was dragging anchor and nearly bumped into us, so for 3 hours he drove us all through Hook Passage to Blue Bay, just off Hayman Island. This is much nearer our snorkelling point at Stonehaven Beach, which is very enjoyable for an hour or so, before our return to Airlie beach for late …

    Australia Day!

A travel blog entry by richandmarkinoz on Jan 26, 2015

Australia Day saw us getting the Greyhound down from Townsville to Airlie Beach, the town we would commence our Whitsundays trip from.

Our Whitsundays tour included accommodation the night before and the night after our trip - however they had cleverly managed to forget to book us into a hostel, so we ended up with a last minute booking in …

    Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach is a beach town, a must for youngsters who are looking for party, booz, beach and noise. Full of hotels, hostels and restaurants. The town has a lagoon next to the beach. The lagoon is stinger free!

Take a day to tour around the town and relax at the beach, the lagoon and do some shopping.
The next day it's almost …

The Whisundays Coast, a Paradise between Brisbane and Cairns. You can find quite cheap flights from Brisbane with JetStar airlines. There are two airports: Proserpine and Hamilton Island. If you have a small Budget better stay at Airlie Beach, a crowded party town where you can find cheap accomodation (lots of hostels), fast food restaurants and …
