6 The Esplanade Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia, 4802, 07-4948-1300
When we arrived at Airlie Beach we checked into a very clean and smart hostel. Airlie Beach is an area where people go to access the Whitsunday Islands. The small town is mainly shops and restaurants on a long main street. Just behind that is the marina and lagoon. The lagoon is a small manmade pool and 'beach' where all of the sunworshipers gather and of course the Kookaburras. It is nice to walk along by the marina and see the clear blue sky leading into the greeny blue sea. We booked onto ...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia benbeckieThe last 24 hours have been a bit crazy again. As I'm writing this they're playing black eyed peas-my humps, so if I make any spelling mistakes its because I can't help shaking my booty. Well the story goes a little like this. My bus was due to leave Rainbow Beach yesterday at 12.30, the bugger was late though and by the time we headed off we were about an hour behind schedule, which didn't bother me. Its not as if I'd arranged to meet anyone. We pulled up in the coach terminal in Bundaberg a...
Airlie beach, Australia bluenoseontourDecided to have a bit of beach/sun/sea time before we got to Melbourne so we flew from Japan to Brisbane. From there we flew to Hamilton Island on the East coast which, we discovered was too expensive for accommodation so we got a ferry to the mainland to a backpackers haven called Airlie Beach. Michael was happy to be back in the homeland and had a Carlton Draught to celebrate. Next day we headed out on a boat with a bunch of other backpackers for a three day, two night cruise of the Whitsun...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia dacraicSo still tired from not getting a proper nights sleep we checked in too our hostel. It is quite bizarre; it's kinda in the middle of a food court thing. Hard to describe but you basically walk out of the room and there is a Chinese, Indian, Thai restaurant all just there. Very bizarre, but were only here 2 nights. Any way we took a stroll around Airlie beach. It’s very much like a typical seaside resort, souvenir shops, bars, and tour guides. The one big difference is the sea is absolut...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia karendixonToday, we booked to go on Ocean Rafting and get across to see Whitehaven Beach and see the Whitsunday Islands. It was amazing, our boat was like a large dingy with loads and loads of power, it was so much fun. It was really choppy at sea which just made it even more amusing, jumping off the waves and pounding the surf. We arrived at Hill let Look out point and there is no way I can describe the incredible view, you just have to see it for yourselves. It actually looks as it does on the postca...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia karendixonSo the past few days I've just been making my way down the East Coast, killing a few days till my trip through the Whitsundays. I stopped at Mission Beach for the first day. Not too much going on there. Just spent the day chillin on the beach, which actually wasn't overly impressive. But I did have a canine companion for awhile that day as this dog on the beach, adorable and very well behaved, followed me as I walked along for a good ways. When I stopped and laid my towel down she laid down r...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia kkherbstJust off of the coast of Aerlie Beach there is a group of islands known as the Whitsundays. They're world heritage listed and a must-see for the majority of visitors to the Queensland Coast. My visit consisted of a 2 day, 2 night sailing trip (the most popular way to see the islands) on board the SV Whitehaven. It was enjoyable, but not really the most entertaining. The trip was laid out so you did a half day, a night, a full day and night and then another half day. We got the chance to go sn...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia kkherbstOR SHOULD WE SAY HATE!!! Yes well Cyclone Charlotte kind of f****d a few things up for us, we arrived at Airlie Beacj to torrential rainfall, with nothing to do in airle but go to the beach, we were stuck in doors. When it eased up we decided to go book ourselves on a boat, if it was going out, and some other tours, so we haggled and bartered and talked the talk and we arrived on a deal we were all happy with. Until we find out that the ever so lovely Charlotte has washed the only road betwee...
Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia latergators
We woke up in Airlie Beach where it was hot. Stephanie liked the heat but I stayed in the shade. We took a mini road trip around the area and found the falls which was dried up and an awesome beach. I was surprised that the falls was all dried up because it's Spring. Then we realized that it doesn't snow this far north in Australia and the water missing from the falls would come with the monsoon season. At Conway Beach the tide was out. The beach was so shallow and seemed to go out foreve...
