      ... She was very knowledgeable about all the architecture and buildings of the city, which made me think about how little I know about my own city. My favorite parts of the tour were the Vajdahunyad Castle grounds and Heroes Square. The Castle was in great shape and had a lively atmosphere outside of it.       ... had a goose leg with red cabbage and potato onion hash. For desert we shared a chestnut rum purée with cherries and whipped cream. That filled us up so much we needed to keep walking after we reached our hotel.       We arrived in Budapest on St. Stevens day, which is their equivalent of the 4th of July, although their national day is actually in March. We watched the fireworks along the bank of the Danube and they were enjoyable even though they could not compare to Bastille day.       ... rate without a commission! I loath bureaucrats and these bankers are the epitome of the worst of them. In speaking to locals, I discovered that they are alike that to everyone. Throw back to Communist days!

      The next day when I went by the bank, I stood in the window waving my arms at that young man like a lunatic...he looked up and broke into a big smile. We are good.

      ... to the church.

      After leaving the church we turned east and headed over to the Opera House. The facade of the building honors famous Hungarian composers Ferenc Erkel and Franz Liszt and the interior is a lovely series of arches, columns and chandeliers. There wasn't enough time to tour the full building, but you can sense that seeing an Opera here would be an amazing experience.
