      ... had a goose leg with red cabbage and potato onion hash. For desert we shared a chestnut rum purée with cherries and whipped cream. That filled us up so much we needed to keep walking after we reached our hotel.       We arrived in Budapest on St. Stevens day, which is their equivalent of the 4th of July, although their national day is actually in March. We watched the fireworks along the bank of the Danube and they were enjoyable even though they could not compare to Bastille day.       After leaving the church we turned east and headed over to the Opera House. The facade of the building honors famous Hungarian composers Ferenc Erkel and Franz Liszt and the interior is a lovely series of arches, columns and chandeliers. There wasn't enough time to tour the full building, but you can sense that seeing an Opera here would be an amazing experience.
