After a very long day on a broken down bus, I was desperate for a place to crash. Based on referral from a couple of Aussies on the bus, I couldn't grab the room fast enough. Harry and his mom are wonderful. Comfortable room with A/C, free internet, wifi, breakfast included and they really make you feel like you are at home. Highly recommend it.

Our 3-4 weeks in Turkey has nearly come to an end (yet there is so much more to see here). Since our last entry we have been to Kaş (pronounced like 'Cash', the squiggle under the 'ş' makes it a 'sh'), Pamukkale and Selçuk (the 'ç', like the 'ş' being a 'ch' sound). Or in other words Turkish …

You're probably wondering why we're in Selçuk at this point. Aside from it being a good half way point between Çanakkale and Pamukkale (our next destination), it's also the site of Ephesus. Never heard of Ephesus? Neither had we, but it's a big deal in Turkey. Their most common beer is even named after it (Efes - which is …

After a buffet breakfast on the roof terrace (which amazingly included fruit salad, yoghurt and muesli) we got second coffees and relaxed up there for the rest of the morning. I don't have much else to tell about today other than it was really relaxing as we didn't have anything to do and Selçuk is a nice quiet little town.< …

We bussed east to Selçuk (sell-chook) today. It was a standard ride as far as Turkish bus rides go. They're actually pretty good; comfortable seats, toilet stops every couple of hours and a bus attendant who regularly serves you refreshments. Seriously, like on a plane. It's just as well I suppose as they're also usually …

      Christmas Eve Day, 12.24.09:

Unfortunately, I didn't feel very well today (bad headache), so I stuck mostly to our hotel room and rested. Murray did some more exploring of Athens on his own, and in the afternoon, he was nice enough to bring me another "c...
