We decided that David was doing the National History Museum so I could hang around Madison Av and Times Square during daytime. ... picnics, turtles in the lakes, Chipmunks running through the grass, stalls selling sweet treats, people out on their bikes or doing yoga and horse drawn carriages casually taking tourists on tours through the park. We sat and had sushi while people watching, it can be very entertaining.

... did it. We were actually able to hold a large piece of broken glass from the Twin Towers. It was one of only very few pieces that exist, because 99% of all the glass from the towers was reduced to dust. It would have been from the higher floors of the buildings, which had thicker glass because of the high winds up there. It was very surreal to actually hold in my hand a piece of the World Trade Centre.

Heading out of accommodation slightly better rested, we walk past the local soup kitchen and feel pretty grateful about how we live at home. Walking towards the action, we love the change in scenery with the weather grey and drizzly and cold and the buildings with their fire escapes. We can't help notice we are in a big city now.
