I got in to Cologne early on the Friday afternoon and headed straight over to my hostel. I didn't have much to do that day so I decided to head back in to the station and get the train out to Bonn, which, despite being a separate city entirely, is only 20 minutes away.

Behind it was a weird but pretty gate with turrets on either side. We went to the Christmas market at Rudolfplatz for a schnitzel sandwich and a Gluhwein for a late lunch

... the Rudolfplatz xmas markets.. every xmas market has it's own theme, in it's decor, foods etc.. all distinctively different so one never tires looking at more & more xmas , foods, sights etc.

Düsseldorfer Doofen
... Hauptbahnhof because it was the simplest option. The Ibis chain has had something of a facelift lately; A move away from that horrible orange colour scheme. Bigger, more comfortable beds.
