The long flights home
... quick to pepper us with questions about Canada (curiosty is international!). Without fault, they would always ask us 1) Is it snowing right now in Canada? and 2) How cold does it get in the winter?... The look of disbelief on their face when you answer -30 degrees never gets old. I'm pretty sure they think that Canadians are suckers for punishment.

Home again! (Well, almost...)
... impression of "the person you are taking to the station is totally not a foreigner and you can't rip her off", with the result that he agreed to come, but at 6:15. Apparently he was otherwise engaged at 6:30, I dunno. Sooo out of bed I dragged myself, already resenting the lack of snooze time, but confident that I would have just enough time to get ready. This time, the train contained more young people, including 3 white guys.
On my way back from the dining car, one of them (they were joined by another 3 black guys) stopped me and asked me where I was from. There was a group drinking between cars and apparently I had been the topic of discussion. ...
Apartheid
... club in the middle of the park to buy water, it was filled with whites, not a black person in sight.
As we continued North, we started only seeing white people. We had entered their district.
Curiously, people still seem to choose to live completely separately, based on the colour of their skin.
It was a long, tiring walk, and so an early night was in order!

... the days where I didn't take many photos! Senegal and Mauritania done now- woo hoo! Off to go try and find some internet and get my hair cut. Also need to get some dinner for tonight since we are actually staying in tonight I believe. Went down the road for a hair appointment and she was free so she cut it then and there which was great - one more thing off the to do list before I head back on the road. Got ...
