Xi'an
Xi'an Finally arrived in Xi'an at 5pm the next day, the train was an hour late after hitting something on the track only about an hour from Xi'an. Found our way to the Youth Hostel, freshened up & sank a few deserved cold beers, & then met up with our lovely sister Rhainnnon, who has been living in Xi'an for 1 year, teaching local kids …

What can I say about the first Hostel I stayed in? "The Xaingzimen" ? Here is the review I wrote for Travelpod and other review sites. Most negative hotel review I have ever written:
"The place is beautiful on the outside and inside of the rooms. The location is excellent, which is why I chose the Hostel. When I booked online for 180 per …
Farewell lovely Xi'an
I spent the rest of Wednesday night watching old movies until 2:30 AM which made the knock on my door in the morning much more unpleasant. "BANG BANG BANG", went the door. "Go away I'm sleeping @%$#@" was myreply. "BANG BANG BANG", went the door again. So I wrapped a sheet around me and threw open the door exclaiming a loud, angry "WHAT!!!". Turns …
Xian, China
We took the 12 hour night train from Beijing to Xi'an, quite an experience in it's own right!! We slept on "hard-sleepers", 6 people sharing one compartment of triple layer bunk-beds. Once in Xi'an, we cycled along the 14km old city wall (built in 1370 during the Ming dynasty) on a tandem bike ("I'm a lady"). The smog in Xi'an was quite shocking, …

TravelPod Member ReviewsBell Tower Youth Hostel Xi'an
Easy to find. RIGHT NEXT TO THE BELL TOWER! MOST ROOMS HAVE A SPECTACULAR VIEW OF THE TOWER! Less expensive than the more "Pretentious" hostels around but much more kind and fun. I have the impression that the owners enjoy their business more than just a modicum to suck the last mao from their customers. The staff is friendly, helpful, easy to communicate with. The single rooms are gorgeous and the best deal in this part of the city, My favorite hostel in China so far!!! P.S. The bar/restaurant is quite nice with the best Chinese Hostel Hamburgers I've had so far. With Tsing Tao beers at 10 RMB each there is a nice party on any given night. The ambience is incredible.

I researched this place before i arrived and decided to chance it. I got given a double room, which was very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel only has wifi in the reception and the bar, so if you want peace and quiet then you have to sit in the reception. I went to the bar and it was heaving with locals - very lively! It was nice during the day and good for breakfast. The staff in the hotel were very friendly, although I did keep getting little post-it notes on my door reminding me of things!
