Welcome to Mozambique... latin feeling straight away: portuguese speaking country, people drinking beers at the terraces, crazy bureaucracy (bureaucrazy!) and really messy immigration procedures which caused me to stay 10 days in the capital city, Maputo, to sort out visa issues.

Maputo was not a bad stopover. We watched the election to kill some time. It is a fairly walkable city and on the beach it has a great seafood restaurant named Costa do Sol. We got a big mixed seafood platter to try the Mocambique prawns. We also went to the market and bought huge bags of cashews and mangoes.

Forgive any glitches, inconsistencies of just plain old lack of coherence...that happens after you've been blessed with a best friend who got you accustomed to private jet travel or, if commercial, first or business...so, this was a little "taxing" on Ashling (thanks Nick...I thought of you often....I missed my travel buddy supreme!). We left Pretoria and got on the Translux bus to head first into Maputo (Capital) and then onto our real destination - Tofo. The translux was a blessing for the 10 hour journey - airconditioned, spacious (a coach rather than minibus/combivan), had a toilet and showed videos (even if some of them were dodgy Indian ones).
