The snorkelling was actually quite good. About 100 metres offshore there is a sandy bottom with bus sized lumps of coral, most of it living. There are large fish too, and some colourful smaller ones.

Even the resorts themselves are small - most of the tourists bus in for the day only from Cebu city and then bus back home. ... Our room was nice but basic with only cold water but had a balcony looking over the beach and out to the sea and the room price included 3 meals per day, which were actually a decent quality and a good selection.

As Sacha mentioned it was not nearly as magical as our first whale shark experience but we had an hour underwater with these beautiful creatures to admire there grace and agility. I am not sure what will come of the whale sharks in Oslob, it is my understanding that March/April is the time that these creatures should continue their migratory path, they are not caged or netted to the area, just a constant yummy food ...
