... on the roads as usual. Went into Shakland, John, but it seemed pretty closed up. Nothing going on there. There is a huge gap here between those walking miles and those in fast Mercedes driving like maniacs. A lot of corruption. And then yesterday we went to this enormous mall in Durban and finally saw evidence of a growing African middle class. But unfortunately there aren't enough of them. So here we are in Wendy's Guest House in Mtubatuba, a comfortable typically African ...

She is about 15m away, so we drive slowly toward her, but she hurries off into the thick bushes. She stops and watches us for a few minutes, but the density of the forest doesn't allow for a good view and the last we see is her beautiful spotted coat disappear deeper. Leopard are notoriously hard to see, so we feel ...

... is a monster! Fully equipped with self battery starter, self inflating air pressure kit for the tyres, inflatable sand bed, to lift the car out of deep sand if we get stuck, 2 spare tyres, and all the screws, nuts, bolts and wrenches one could think of! After a 30 minute intro on how to use all this stuff (I hope Jon was listening cause he lost me 29 minutes ago!), we are ready to leave and start our self-drive adventure. I am super excited ...
