... warthogs, zebra, and water buffalo. They were amazing to watch. We came across a white rhino, and he is not white. One was taking a mud bath. There are many bathing places for them to roll around in. The mud keeps them cool and when it flakes off, the ticks fall off as well.

We then saw a troop of baboons. There were four adult males, babies, and of course, the females. Must have been near 30 of ...

... need to go pee and there was no way I was getting out of that tent in the dark with lion close by, so I didn't allow my curiosity to get the better of me! Rick doesn't sleep. He shuts his eyes, but is always fully alert in the bush. He added wood to the fire every 2 hours through the night and sat up keeping watch, returning to his tent to rest in between, apparently wearing nothing but his gun belt! ... sightings, followed by a mum and baby white rhino. As we drive around the Sontuli Loop we spot a shadow on the road in front, we both react, Leopard! She is about 15m away, so we drive slowly toward her, but she hurries off into the thick bushes. She stops and watches us for a few minutes, but the density of the forest doesn't allow for a good view and the last we see is her beautiful spotted coat disappear deeper. ... is a monster! Fully equipped with self battery starter, self inflating air pressure kit for the tyres, inflatable sand bed, to lift the car out of deep sand if we get stuck, 2 spare tyres, and all the screws, nuts, bolts and wrenches one could think of! After a 30 minute intro on how to use all this stuff (I hope Jon was listening cause he lost me 29 minutes ago!), we are ready to leave and start our self-drive adventure. I am super excited ...

Departed Richards Bay at 3. Arrived Joburg 4.15. Said goodbye to Pam and Lynn. Luggage on carousel when I got there. Saw Pam and Lynne again. Went to bus terminal, avoiding and refusing taxi touts. Shuttle bus at 5. Got to Peermont Metcourt hotel at Emperors Palace. Huge complex of hotels around casino.
Real shower!!! Hot water with pressure and light!!! Nice to dress up and do hair and wear ...
