    ... closer to the intersection, it got deeper. We both looked at each other in a "do we even ask if this is sewage water" kind of way, but then I thought, you know what? I'm in China, I'm following the stupid water gosh-darn-it. So we wandered beside the street as the water level rose and rose. We kept following it as it got higher and higher and got quite a few strange looks along the way.

    Today I got up early and took a ferry out to Gulangyu to beat the crowds and the heat. The island, known also as, Piano Island, has no cars or motor bikes. A very welcome change.
