Uruguay 911 - 1o B Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina, 1015, +-54-11-4812-4077
We just finished up our time in Buenos Aires and had an amazing time, to say the least. The city has been a complete 180 from everything that we have grown accustomed to in South America. There is a saying amongst neighboring south american countries about Argentines (and specifically Portenos, or those from BA) that goes something like, "they are Italians who speak Spanish, have the snobby-ness of the French and the ignorance of Americans." As is made clear by the aforementioned quote, Bueno...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina satravelblog... NOT have been more welcoming or hospitable. Steph and I joined them for dinner before the fast in their absolutely gorgeous apartment… that took up an entire floor of a large apartment building. And the mother is an interior architect… enough said. We went with the family to shul and luckily they brought siddurim for Steph and me to use so we could follow along this time! We had been told by our new adoptive family that everyone brings little ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina sferst... a great little french brasseries style bar and taxke taxis to Plaza Serrano where we ear a nice last supper, discussing events from the night before and the trip in general and all round missing those that have left (well most of them).

Katja explains an hilarious episode from the previous evening where she had gone home from the club disappointed and put on her iPod and started dancing in her room. Forgetting that there is a dorm full of sleepers next ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina codownsean... dog sitters are doing a pretty good job. Oh, and I can now of course tick "Driving on the stupid side of the road" off my to-do list. Part of the bike tour took us to Recoletta, one of the nicer neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires and home to the famous Recoletta Cemetery where Argentina's famous are dead and not so much buried but on display for all to see. I didn't really need a map as it was easy enough to just follow the crowds of ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina lyndsaygillot... This reminded me a cross between the Bunde in Shanghai and the Embarcadero in SF. Impossibly long row of very stately old buildings, some old warehouses converted inot restaurants, some tacky (TGIF) some delightfully tacky yet unrefined (Hooter´s, no kidding) some just overpriced looking. Finally not hungry after some fruit resembling a madarin (had exact change). ACK! i´m babling and now I can´t get the photos to load. Will check back later
Buenos Aires, Argentina danbdan... I took it easy to prepare for the arrival of my parents, so that mum wouldn`t have any idea until now that I was enjoying my time away! Thursday, finally my family arrive! After a obligatory mix-up trying to get to the right apartment, I got the call and made my way over. I actually bumped into Neil and mum on the street.... small world eh.. It was great to see them again and so interesting to see and hear their thoughts and reactions to Buenos ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina shanemI know that I said I wasn't a "city girl" but I have to say... if I was ever going to be one... Buenos Aires would be my stomping grounds! I am in LOVE with this city that never sleeps. (It must be related to New York.) There is nonstop action 24/7 here in the heart of Argentina. I have been here for 4 or 5 days now and I haven't even seen a tiny portion of this city that houses over 14 million people! There are so many different areas in this ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina allisonakemi... Bikes purchased soon after but with minimal preparation, we managed to snatch 10 weeks in 2007 and cover almost 16,000 km around Europe, North Africa and the Ukraine. A great trip and fantastic experience, but one that merely whetted the appetite for something a bit more challenging, a bit more testing. Life is short and you're a long time dead - having both closed in on our mid 30's we decided in February 2008 that the time was nigh to get off our butts and do the stuff we really ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina barneyandpier... expensive I suppose, but for me it was about 25 pounds. I thought it was good value when you consider the spa allowed free run of the place with any booking; I had time in the jacuzzi, then the steam room, collected for my massage, then into the rest room for a bit of a kip. The place had lots of free teas and drinks, fruit and yogurt on offer to clients. Very nice indeed. After that I met Ingunn for a good ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina johnsa32... an hour's time and headed back to the bar district for a few more drinks!

We crossed a bridge which gave us good views of this new docklands area, which looked expensive but really nice...

We found a really nice wine bar, where we allowed the waiter to order us a nice Malbec, which turned ...
