Arita is my favorite pottery town, since it has a Wholesale Ceramics Plaza. Most items are 30% off the posted prices, and there is a tremdous variety of goods available. I spent a whole day shopping there! Focus on the stores on the western side of the plaza, they are the largest and have the nicest merchandise.

Last time I have written was when we just arrived in Hiroshima. In Hiroshima we visited the Miyajumi island where the floating temple is except that when we arrived it was low tide and the temple was not floating but we could actually quite comfortably walk to it. But such a nice island with some wild deer and if I came again would definitely be nice to stay on the island for a night. We also visited the Hiroshima A-bomb memorial park which was quite sad ...

We caught the bus up to the base of the hill where the school is perched, and then caught a taxi up the steep winding street to the School. ... at the same Japanese restaurant we went to last night for a similarly excellent meal, for almost the same price as by "Chirri Prawn" burger I had for lunch. Having a quiet morning tomorrow, followed by a trip to Veronica's old High School which she attended while over here on Lions Club exchange in 1995. We are meeting one of her old teachers there, who is now retired from teaching, but from what I can gather is still involved with the school in some capacity.
