... We were at a refuge where they confiscate these orphans and rear them to 3 years old then release them back into the Amazon. They eat only a green lettuce like plant that grows profusely here. If they are hunted to extinction it will be curtains for the Amazon as the plant will spread and block the river top which will starve the fish of oxygen etc etc. Right down the food chain. An adult Manatee eats about 55 kilos a day of this lettuce. Also saw some monkeys. After ...
