    ... s rent-controlled. Other people in his building are paying $4,000/month rent for the same studio apartment he is paying 1/4 of the rent for. They even had a rally here not that long ago to raise the minimum wage so people can try to make ends meet. They still can't, so they live out of town where it's cheaper and commute in.     Today, we got on a bus, the hop on, hop off kind where you can listen to a guide give his spiel on landmarks in the city and get off at any of the 20 stops to explore some more. This guide sounded like a commercial radio announcer. The enthusiasm seemed much less sincere. The photo ops were too quick which is understandable when driving in traffic.     ... on food and a place to watch the UFC. We ignored all their suggestions and decided to get Chinese which is right next to the hotel. Until we found Alfred's Steakhouse that was down an alley near our hotel. It has been open since 1928 and the food was delicious. We had also been told to check out the Bay Bridge lights. We got a much delayed start and ended up going to Desiree's 9am brunch by noon. We ran into some characters out in the street, Andy and Bunny, and wandered upstairs.
