We got up early again to go to Alcatraz with Chris and Simon, my mums friends. The boat the island was a hybrid working on wind and solar power. Alcatraz is was the most secure prison in America as it is on a island so if you broke out as some people did they died on the journey back to the main land. The island is lovely with snowy egrets and gulls nesting ...

Good night from the "Rudkin Travelling Forest 2087 Billies" from San ...

Firstly, thank you everyone for your recommendations. My blogs are all delayed (the keyboard on my iPad died; I'm typing by memory), so in many cases the recommendations trailed us and came too late. We love all the comments nonetheless. They make our day.

Day 4 in San Francisco we met up with our good friends Dan and Nicole who are stopping here on their way home from Honeymooning in Maui. We rented a Zipcar, which was parked across from ...

... and so on.... I walked around for a couple of hours in the botanical gardens and then set up camp and lay down for a while in the sun. A pretty chilled day all in all and didn't so a lot else! The following day I had my Alcatraz visit. Alcatraz, an island just over a mile from San Francisco Bay, was used initially as an army defence station, and later as a maximum security prison for which it's famous for. The island is only really small. Al Capone was the ...
