... nice, because the building itself is sparsely used on the weekend. Having the place pretty much to ourselves allowed the kids to focus on the displays a little better. There was a great deal more traffic in the library, which could be distracting.

There was a great variety of nativity scenes: from different countries, made from different materials, and different, imaginative scenes envisioning ...

... often when she was a young mother of about 4 or 5 kids to meet her other young-mother friends for playdates. And HealthWorks seems to be a very nice place for that. It is a smallish museum, but a good-sized indoor playground and exploratorium.

We ended up staying there for about 2.5 to 3 hours. The place was small enough that I did not feel like I had to keep a wary eye out ...

The day turned on beautiful weather with a clear sky and a nip in the air. We were able to walk out to the end of the breakwater on the left and the one on the right which has two light sources on it. The waves were breaking on the lighthouse breakwater and the surf rolled into the shore. A person in a kayak was out in the waves enjoying the ride and later two people on stand-up jet skis came and rode the waves jumping high in the air ...

Buggies and Quilts

... was an area that was obviously where the tourists went to take buggy rides and browse the shops. It reminded me of Montville on a weekend but in American Amish country. It was interesting to see the horses and buggies going along the road shoulder and cars on the road. We saw so many horses and buggies in a small area in such a short period of time and it was not put on for the tourists. That was just how I wanted to see their community.

... seemed to be flowing more freely our way (east) than the other way. We saw it crawling along and almost stationary at times.

From Chicago we headed north on route 94 towards Michigan City where we turned onto the 20 to South Bend. Quite a lot of road works along the route from near Starved Rock.

Arrived at Madge's house at South bend around what we thought was 5 pm but we had crossed back into Eastern ...
