... Still trying to understand the distinction. Went to the Circuit Court House. Does State law - crime and civil. Hosted by a lovely Judge. Watched a few civil motions (preliminary style hearings). One advocate wore a BOW TIE. WTF.

Then had a private tour of the court. Far nicer than our courts...

Then we had a lovely lunch hosted by the South Bend Inn.

Then we went to the Federal Court. Beautiful ornate building - art deco, marble and ...

... Staying in a hotel one block from the court house. And a rather nice hotel at that. Why have one bed when you can have two?

Our first real event was a wonderful dinner hosted at a family home with the South Bend Inn of Court. Four courses - cucumber soup, salad, beef, chocolate ganache pie.
