... over time silted up because they haven't been regularly dredged. Of the 63 broads, 14 are open for boats. Some broads are privately owned and some are part of an internationally renowned nature area. The Broads became a popular holiday destination in Victorian and Edwardian times. Sailing boats were used then. In the 1930s, wooden motor cruisers with converted petrol car engines to power them became popular. And of course, once motor cruisers ...

... cruise was really informative and we had a lovely morning as it was sunny and quite warm. We then decided on lunch away from the hustle and bustle of Wroxham - its only small and there weren't many places for lunch. It was a gentle trip down the river under a number of low bridges. At times, the cruise doesn't run due to high tides. We then went for a drive to Great Yarmouth and stopped at a tiny almost-beachside cafe (old Manor Cafe - not sure where the Manor was!) at Caister for lunch. A typical British cafe serving lots of fried eggs and chips! The view from ...

Well, we did it. Landed in London, cleared Customs and on our way. Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, a Circle Line train and a District Line train to Liverpool Street Station and the 4.30pm train to Norfolk. Still managed to not co-ordinate the weather and my wardrobe. London was very murky - they had had a huge thunderstorm on Thursday night and it rained in places on Friday too although we missed that. So, it was hot and humid and not ...
