Our trip with a local arts and crafts group to Goldsmith's Hall in London one day -- fascinating as it was -- made even more fascinating when Christine Erratt, my high school friend and silver expert, told me she'd recently spent time there researching her book and knew the librarian.

The Castle had passed through so many hands, its history was downright confusing. Main thing I remembered was; the Normans came and built a keep, war and new ownership, uprising and new ownership, some more new ownership, and then the Butes came along in Victorian times. They ended up insanely rich because of a gamble on coal export, repaired the insane amount of damage, dug up roman foundations predating the normans (surprise!) and reconstructed ...

... district. We share the room with one other and it is much nicer hand our digs yesterday night. We have bunk beds with ladders and a clean sink. We set off after settling in to do some sight seeing. Bristol, being home to the infamous black beard and was a stop for Italian explorer john Cabot, harbors old boats, Moats, and even a castle dating back to 1088.

We are now enjoying our dinner, and of course some local brewed beer. We are Cardiff bound tomorrow!!

... again so I was very impressed. She really enjoyed her creamy carbonara pasta.

After dinner we went back to the room at 7.00pm. I remembered we had run out of Emma’s breakfast cereal so Matt very nicely took Emma for a walk to a Boots up the road while I stayed and continued writing the blog. I also have to fold and pack away the clean washing tonight so I didn’t want to be writing too late.
