We "heart" KL!

With sad little faces we got on the boat from Railey, spent a night in Ao Nang then headed to Koh Yao Noi. Lovely little island, untouristy and unspoiled. Rented a scooter and zoomed about the island finding deserted little beaches and stuff. Had a lovely time with Kitty and met her mental friends over a few drinks. Sadly we had itchy feet and after 3 weeks of being lazy beach bums we thought it was time to hit up a city again... Took the overnight bus to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Expecting to ...

The long awaited visual representation of travels

Here are (hopefully) some pictures of Borneo and other places we have been. Right, well since initially starting this blog I have since encountered problems with these Malaysian computers so I hope that in the very near future I can find a more sufficient computer, able to cope with these 21st century gizmos. Photos will be with you soon, that's a promise. For anyone concerned with the well being of Samuel Peregrine Gilbert Page I can confirm for you that he is in good health, although suffe...

Kickin' in Kuala Lumpur

Ed has arrived, rather successfully, he just popped up out of nowhere one day. So we have been showing him the fantastic Chinese markets, and Oonagh and Ed went up the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur (tallest twin towers in the world since you know what). Me and Sam did some indoor rock climbing with our new found friends Kaare and Angie (they are ACE!). I wasn't so good, but it was heaps of fun. Today we all took part in a yoga course, apart from Ed who is still suffering somewhat from jet lag. ...

Journey to K.L

Thursday 29th May SAM: We got up early, packed all our stuff and got down to the highlands main bus depot for 07:45 ready to leave the Cameron Highlands, and the cold, behind us. We spent 5 hours on a luxury air conditioned bus down to K.L, costing only 4 pound each :). On arrival in K.L we had been reccomended to stay at Maratians guest house but found this to be full. So we ended up staying in the Wheelers guest house on the outskirts of china town. After settling into our accomodation we w...

Kuala Lumpar

Having dragged ourselves away from the International Dumpling Festival, we left for KL. This was our first experience of 'Asian Time'. The coach took a few hours longer than expected but it was all worth it to be driven by Malaysia's answer to Wario off MarioKart. I think they actually based the character on this man. He had the same voice, the same evil cackle and the same driving technique... We found a pretty cool hostel that had food and cheap beer. Met some other travellers! Our first da...

Sweating in Kuala Lumpur

I have arrived. I'm not used to big Asian cities and all these people are making me tired, always trying to avoid them unsuccessfully, we clash all the time. And it's hot and polluted. I;m definitely getting old since I'm seriouslz bothered by that. Or maybe it's just because I'm tired from the 22 hour journey here... If anyone says Dubai Airport is great, ask them why they think so. Yes, it has lots of stores, you can buy lots of new perfumes and electronics, although I'm not sure I didn't s...

Kuala Lumpur

27th Nov We arrived in KL and walked from the Puduraya Bus station to our Guesthouse in Chinatown. The place looked grotty from the road and the guesthouse was on from the 2nd storey upwards to the roof. The receptionist was a she male and the reception had about 10 different fish tanks around it with everything from the run of the mill fish to turtles in it. Our room was an internal room with no windows and no aircon - it was a sweatbox neither of us were able to sleep for the three nights w...

Arriving in Malaysia

From Phuket we were headed for Kuala Lumpar. We decided that as it was only a short walk from our hostel we would walk to the bus station where we would get a local bus to the airport. We did not however anticipate the weather and ended up walking in a torrential downpour!

We had to wait a while for the bus and we were a little anxious that we may get to the airport later than we should...in true Thai style the bus turned up eventually and went when it felt there were enough peop...

The Beginning

I've now been gone for 10 days so I thought it was about time to write my first real update. My journey from London to Kuala Lumpur went relatively smoothly - the only thing worth remarking about was my transfer from Bangkok to KL - the entirety of the plane's passengers, bar myself and two other travellers, consisted of a large group of men from Pakistan who were very loud and enjoyed taking photos of everything! It was very surreal. I also managed to run into them again on my way to a bus s...

... reminds me of Gabriele Salvatores' "Nirvana". Chinatown is totally crowded but so amazing. On Friday I've been to the cinema plaza@Times Square Shopping Centre at the last show, around midnight and to see this huge 10 storey building deserted - all the shops were closed, lights down - after I had seen it in the day-time, full of people buying silly things, was worth the ...
