Phase Three – Setting Sail

Paros

We disembarked the ferry and took in the marvelous sights of the port of Parikia – the windmill, white-washed buildings, clear blue sky. Our meeting point was the Marina Café. We used the tourist map supplied by Blue Star Ferries and info from Exas Yachts to find it. The check-in was located just behind the Marina Café and on the second ...

... close to the marina that has music coming from it. I ate a lamb dish for dinner and since the Greeks eat dinner very late in the day and will frequently make an evening of it, it wasn't until close to 11 PM that we left the taverna.

I went back to the yacht to dress in my club clothes and to go to one of the few dance clubs that remained open over the winter. Although it wasn’t packed, the club was still a lot of fun and we had a great time.

A few days in Mykonos

... beautiful place with the village full of white-washed buildings scattered around a maze of little streets and alley ways. Just at it seemed that Santorini was made for couples, Mykonos was make for singles and the party life. This is one place that I want to return to again.

My Big Fat Greek Visit !

... future therapy and slashed that show right after the pilot.

By mid afternoon, The Ruby disembarked Mykonos in order to hit the sea and arrive in Istanbul, that city of two continents and many cultures, by tomorrow morning. We're most lookin' forward to the former city of Constantinople!

... sorted and ready to go. It's weird the items in your life that you take for granted. We have been getting by with washing all of our clothes by hand, but, they never did get 100% clean. We did one load of washing in Paros and it cost us 10Euro (50AED) so this was an expensive option. Last night I managed 3 washes and the machine has been on this morning since dawn with more to go. The great thing is that if our clothes get dirty this ...

... that! Finikas is a pleasant wee village, mostly a resort. It has an excellent bakers & the supermarket gave us a couple of promotional baseball caps & a T shirt when we paid! The "marina" is really one pontoon but has electric & water for 3 euros each & it cost us 6euros to stay. The harbour master is a friendly lad but does like to cram the boats in. At one point there was a boat using the 2 boats behind him as a pontoon to tie up to and all of ...

Pontoon of Horror 2 - A Greek tragedy in 2 parts

... This caused it to suddenly turn at right angles to my boat. He then re-anchored them while I sorted out my anchor rope. Next a boat came in with broken steering and, again took my anchor rope through ninety degrees - forgiveable in the circumstances. When this boat left the following morning another member of the flotilla came in and of course Pa had to help them and, guess what, he anchored them over my bloody anchor rope and then re-anchored them. On ...

... Dario! Johnny and Nick soon returned from the Casino with huge grins on their faces, Johnny having won over 1000 Euro. So we left the ship, and crossed the road to the bar opposite where we danced and chatted before l rolled once again into bed at a time l don't want to even think about! Iam now offically living and have adapted to Greek time, where one eats dinner at 10pm, and then drinks coffee until 2am and then sees what the night has in store! The night is always young in Greece!

... Quest has large water tanks and solar panels. We had plenty of choices for side-ties here and as we slowly made our way toward the dock, that darned Mr. Wind roared through and once again, concrete and boat without padding... We were secure and checked the hull for damage. Nothing that a bit of sanding and two coats of paint and a little drying time wouldn't fix. We walked into town (probably 2.5 miles) looking for a computer cable (with success). Walked back to the boat and ...

Cruising the Greek Islands

How on Earth did I get to be so lucky?

My family and I went on a cruise of the Greek Islands. We ate a lot, got sea sick once, soaked up the sun, and absorbed the classically beautiful white and blue colours on the islands. There weren't very much ship activities that my sister and I were interested in but Allyson and I did win a bingo game! Mykonos was by far our favorite island because of its beauty.
