... was not especially busy on my Friday lunch visit, but the main building was hopping with students d’cuisine and wannabe students on tour in the limited public areas. Cheffing is a hot career nowadays, something I’m sure is helped on by all the food-oriented shows on TV.

... geography of New York state, Columbia County was just farms. I recently found out, though, about some interesting sights in the area.

First among those is Olana, the hilltop home overlooking the Hudson of Frederic Edwin Church. Olana’s location is fitting since Church was one the foremost painters of the Hudson River School that focused on landscape scenes in eastern region during the nineteenth century. What I find most memorable about Church are his unique ...

    Rhinebeck - Hudson Valley Quaintness

Rhinebeck, New York is a quaint little town in the heart of the Hudson Valley, nowadays sometimes called "The New Hamptons" after one of affluent New Yorkers' other summer resort playgrounds as this part of the Hudson Valley has become more gentrified in recent decades with wineries, horse farms, and small-scale artisanal food producers replacing the commercial dairy farms that still dominated Dutchess County’s rural scenery when I was a ...
