... there trip to Boracay. They gave a 20% discount if you showed your flight ticket. So off we went in another taxi, with Jing scooting behind us. ... church having been built in 1566, on the location, where it is believed that the image of the holy child (Santo Nino) was found. The image of Santo Nino, kept in the Basilica, is considered the oldest religious relic in the Philippines. It was gifted by Magellan to Queen Juana in 1521.

Later in 1565, when the spanish expedition led by Legazpi visited Cebu, and after a hostile encounter with the locals, set the village on fire, yet found the image unscathed.
