... she was keen to go back to so she had made a booking and invited anyone who was interested. No one really had anything planned so we all ended up going with her and Karen to this place up in the hills above the town. Naturally, it was at the complete other end of the Hvar from the Hula Bar, so we had to walk right back and up into the hills to find it. She was just going off memory so it seemed like a wild goose chase but really it wasn't that far and the ...

... We walked up many many stairs to get up there, but when we arrived the fortress was closing, so they wouldn't let us in! We got some amazing views of the town and other islands nearby though, before making our way back down the stairs into town. When we got to the bottom, a whole bunch of people decided to go around to the beach for a swim, but we wanted to look around the town a bit, so we went with a group of four people from French Canada for a walk down the square ...

... singers to ply their trade.
A tour of the large basement area contained statues, plaques, piping remnants, olive press, beams of timber, architectural remnants, all from the Roman period.
Late in the day we took a road-train tour up to the top of Mt. Marjan (highest point) where we had a great view of the city (on the way up I noticed a small watchtower built into the rock face).
Once back at the bottom we made our way back to ...
