The undivded attention of anywhere between one and three people I'm sure Mama Davies would love in her 5* all inclusive holiday kinda way, but if this is how I'll be staying for most of my time in Cuba it's going to take some time to adjust. They wanted to know what my plans were and how they could assist. No need to go into town, Rosemary (the owner)'s mother is ...

Our intrepid group travelled to the Vinales valley east of Havana, to view Mogotes, impressive tree covered limestone knolls containing stalagmitic caves and underground rivers. Casa Amarilis Léon - literally 2 doors from the corner shop where all the taxis hang out - which was one of our issues. Amarilis and here family were very nice and the food was great (as with most casas to date), but the seated area out the front was 2m from "taxi señor" central, and the foot and car traffic (if you could call it that) was constant. Amarilis' oldest son was 22 and spoke ...

... out for the day we headed out in a red and white 1958 Ford cabriolet. As Jan said the engine is new – we got a look, it’s a Hyundai/Kia (who knew they were the same company?) diesel bus engine. Just as well, as the body of this thing was huge, it must have weighed a heap. It’s been years since I was in a car with a bench front seat – Dad I am thinking now of that Zodiac (or was it a Zephyr?) we had in Manchester – and NO seatbelts or ...
