After a 10-hour bus ride (which over the past year of travels are beginning to seem like no problem at all) we arrived in the central highlands of Vietnam in Da Lat. Wow! This is an incredibly beautiful city with great people and attractions. A good comparison would be a combination of Banff and Kelowna mashed together, so you can imagine the …
Mountain road to Dalat!!
Well for once the journey was actually more scenic than the actual town. I swithered for ages whether to do Dalat or the Mekong Delta and stupidly thought I could fit both in?! I did manage but it meant only one night in Dalat, which was actually long enough!! I saw everything I wanted to see in the afternoon after after my 4hr bus ride from Nha …
Doesig Fjelllandsby
The Vietnam Alps... Apparently!
We left Mui Ne early to head by bus to Dalat which had been compared to the French Alps by the Lonely Planet. It was quite a nice town but not worthy of that description!
We met Makayla and Sam on the bus who are heading in the same direction as us and we spent some of our time in Dalat with them.
We chilled at our hotel on the afternoon …
Dalat
HI!! So after our last entry, we had to stay in Mui Ne for the rest of the morning since our bus got cancelled to go to Dalat. So we just chilled by the sea in the hammocks and grabbed some food. I know ...tough life! So the bus finally came and it was tiny. Sean and I took the last two spots in the bus and we thought we were good to go...but no. …

Room clean, cheap enough rates. Don't expect much for breakfast but certainly nothing to complain about!
Thanks

We booked a room on the prospect of taking a motorbike tour with Rot, the tour manager.
Rot is the reason to stay here. He is a great guide with a great sense of humor and has unique relationship with the tribal people of his village. The tour follows the similar route as others in town and it is Rot that makes his tour a cut above. Rot doesn't lead the tour everyday and we postponed our tour until he was leading and were glad we waited.
The rooms are clean, pretty well kept and a nice size.
Hot water and wifi went out during our stay but was soon back up and running. When it was up, internet seem slower than at other hotels in Vietnam. Maintenance should be improved.
The breakfast included in the room price was minimalist; a dry crust of bread, fried egg, and tea. No fruit no extras. Get the corn flakes and milk when you stay.....
We found it a bit too far to walk to the tourist restaurants, market and lake in central Dalat. But it was easy to get a taxi to the center for about a dollar....

For what we paid, we may have expected a little more than a luke warm shower and a couple of bananas in the included breakfast.
Our host was very personable and - had we gone on his seemingly over priced day tour the following day - maybe things had been different but as it was the room seemed to be expensive for what it was in a hotel rich town...
