      ... through it!

      All of the roads are in French ( we stayed on Rue Dumas) and then as you walk over the Grand Canal - a dried up narrow strip of land with the lovely aroma of sewage you come to the Tamil side.

      The roads here are more uneven with huge piles of rubbish, much busier with traffic and people and traditional style Indian shops along with cows and stray dogs.

      Pondicherry does have a certain charm and has a great selection ...
