Modern medical equipment and medicines are harder to come by in Cuba, so the doctors are also trained in herbal medicine. The doctors can grow the herbs they need outside their offices, if need be. They can then reserve the modern medicines for severe conditions, and those patients whose conditions do not respond to herbal treatments.

The last few days we stayed near Holguin, in an all inclusive hotel near the beach. It was a few hour drive from Santiago, and the rest of the days we just relaxed near the beach, swam in the sea and pool and made long walks along the shore. The inclusive part included free cocktails and beer, which we should have taken to our advantage more. We went out one night in a sort of club, which was a bit disappointing. The last day we sailed catamaran, after which we packed our bags to go home. ...

When I got to baggage claim, I had a déjà vu moment… The Frank País International Airport, in Holguín reminded me of when I had landed at the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, Peru in December 2011. Both airports are relatively small and quiet, and look very, VERY similar. The big difference was once I walked outside and saw classic cars everywhere.

This has been a very relaxing vacation. I'm sleeping so well and not stressing over anything.
