... as we had purchased a tour. The tour was called "Cultural Highlights of Samana."

The documents warned of a long tender ride, pollution and poverty. I didn't think the tender was that long, taking only about 15 minutes. The other two were dead on. When we got off the tender on to the Samana dock the pollution stared us in the face. The water in the bay is filthy. There is no other word to describe it. ... do 8 reps with easily, but neglected to mention it was 8 reps about 40 times so my weight choice was a huge mistake. Still, didn't pass out so that was a bonus. Got a cuppa on the way back for Tina and we got up for breakfast, unwashed.... Woo how risky!

... 8217;t fuss much either. Immigration could have been faster, but not a big deal. Customs was a breeze.

We meet our driver, Marcus, outside the gate. He speaks excellent English and offers to stop at a gas station/chicken restaurant (think KFC), for some vittles to hold us over for the 3 hour ride to our chalet. ... park and apparently it has a coastline to die for. all kinds of backwaters to explore and paths through the jungle to walk on. in the middle is a place that sells delicious food for 100 pesos a plate, approximately $3.50 USD.
