Day 16 - noon

Day 10 of Indochina Encompassed Tour

Several meters down the street from our hotel, we found what we were looking for. A bicycle rental shop! You couldn’t miss the place; several bicycles were placed along the street for eager customers like us to spot them right away!

A bicycle being a bicycle, …

Day 10 of Indochina Encompassed Tour

From where I stood, only one word can describe the town of Vang Vieng! Wow! Wow! Wow! Well, those are three words but you get the picture. I immediately took a liking to this town where its most notable features were its karst hill landscapes! You guessed it…..my kinda …

We spent two nights at Vang Vieng the first being in a local home stay village and the second in town at a hotel. The homestay was genuing and extremly basic. No running water, dust and dirt everywhere, tiny children playinng in the dust/dirt with no shoes.. We were made to feel very welcome although there was obviously a communication problem as the …

I made it to my destination unscathed!!

Aside from the random cow/cattle migrations (from one side of the rode to the other), the 95-mile ride (from Vientiane to Vang Vieng) was scenic, pleasant, and tranquil. The ride is relatively flat and surrounded by rice paddies. After about 4 hours of going an average of 60km-70km per hour I arrived …

Totally amazing, it WAS the coolest thing I had done so far. I forgot to charge my phone the night before and it died fairly early on so the only photos I have of this day are from before we went caving. Fortunately I have stolen a few from other people. After this ...

We stayed here for one night only while being on a tour. I have only good words to describe this place. The room was great, clean and fantastic views of the karst limestone from the balcony. It is very well located and walking distance to most tourist attractions. Would highly recommend.
