... bad refusing, and honestly we just thought plans had changed, hence TJ wasn't there yet, so we each made a plate (small thankfully) and went back to the table. TJ soon arrived and asked why we were eating, because we were still to go to dinner. We finished our food thinking we would be leaving soon, since the station manager kept saying how late we were already. The three of them talked in Bahasa, of course. Then TJ went to another table with some of the hotel staff to ...

... been to sail back to Ambon on the 7 April and then fly up to Sorong. However, due to the fact that i had met several other travellers in the Bandas that had already been to Raja Ampat and they all said how costly it was to get there (Rp500,000 marine park fee for starters); how expensive the accommodation was (Rp250,000 p/p/p/n minimum); that diving prices were very high; and that this wasn't the best ...

... and challenging experiences doing it this way and discovered in the process that other than by flying it really is a pain in the **** getting from Borneo to the Moluccas.

The approach to/landing at Ambon was incredibly scenic and the airport surprisingly modern. I caught a public bemo from the main road outside the airport to Mardika market in Kota Ambon (Maluku's capital and commercial centre) which took 1hr 15mins and cost Rp20,000. Unfortunately Kota Ambon ...

... the drop off when I noticed a rathe large shark swimming rather fast along the edge of the drop off toward me. My heart skipped a beat as and I was a little concerned at first thinking I'm about 100 meters off the shore and in fairly deep water on my own. I then realised it was a black tip reef shark and not a known man eater. However it was larger than any I had seen before so I was a little weary. It swam right past me about 10 meters away and didn't even seem to notice ...
