We travelled from Chamonix to Annecy, which is a very pretty holiday destination, with lots of holiday makers swimming, boating, playing in the park & shopping. The parks we have seen are beautifully kept this one had several small vegetable gardens & lots of large pots of flowering plants. Dinner was red wine, cheese, baguette and pate. Accompanied by some lovely piano music from a nearby house...wonderful. We have really made the grade now with Tony Delroy on ABC radio, he even mentioned us tonight without us even needing to call ...

First day in the Alpes with some reasonable weather forecast. So a semi-hard ride is certainly in order. I need all I can get with the Etape du Tour only a week away. I had a good look at all the mountain roads around Grenoble using Google Maps and decided to ride up to Chamrousse - the finish for the TdF stage on July 18. It looks pretty tough too....20km at >7%, especially the first 11kms to Col Lutiel which are savage.

After ...
