So it was pack up and ship out day for us on Tuesday 3rd September. After more Monday shopping (Daemon, you said you wouldn't...) and some go-carting, Graeme went to the athletes' closing ceremony and dinner, swapping a much-coveted-by-all-the-other-athletes 2XU training shirt for a Canadian team bike jacket - cool! ... Going to head earlier than I normally would as the flight is 13.5 hrs and want to see if I can sweet talk the gate into upgrading me to the front if there is room. If not I'll survive, but won't be nearly as comfortable!!

See you all in April, and looking forward to landing in Bangkok, dumping my bags and getting a 1-2hr oil massage right off the bat!

There are apparently lots of rich Canadians here though, judging by the designer shops, designer people and designer cars. It's all a bit of a shock after sparse, rustic, down-to-earth Alaska.

We try to adapt, enjoy the proper coffee at last, and do the laundry!

... for the best fireworks display. We tried to join the rest of Vancouver to watch it on English Bay. However it just became far too crowded to be sensible with a pushchair so we stayed in and had a takeaway instead ! We could just about see the fireworks from the bedroom balcony but as we're on the 33rd floor and you needed to hang over the edge to see, we opted to follow it on the tv instead! It looked pretty ...
