... a bit of mystery to our walk. It was like being in an abandoned city. Passing a black and white cat we made our way up the scorched hill from the rear, mostly unused side. Olive trees grew small and scraggly along the slope and cactus contrasted this with thick green bush like plants springing up in dips. Every so often a little lizard would dart for cover under them. We rounded the side of the fortress and saw the beautiful view of the city and the river. ...

... route back which was great as it gave us another perspective of the countryside. This route took us through Avignon and we stopped for a 'nature break' as they say on the Tour, found a modern shopping centre with a nice restaurant so decided to stay there for dinner which was very pleasant. By the time we got back to St Remy it was 9.00pm after another very pleasant ...

This morning we left Switzerland with a heavy heart, to head back to France for the next part of the tour. The majority of the day was spent on the bus traveling back over the border. We got Avignon late this afternoon and have been on a small walking tour of the city - the bridge and the palace of the popes are the main highlights of the city.
