Heathrow

... so tired that we managed to get some sleep. Our stop in Bangkok was about an hour and the airport seemed really nice, at this point I had only seen Auckland and Sydney airports and by comparison, this airport seemed much more modern. We were on this airport at around midnight local time, so there were very few people around. A few interesting things about the flight from Bangkok to Heathrow is that we actually flew over Moscow. The plane seemed to fly ...

... and get in some green in my world. I made arrangements to head out to Edinburgh and the Scottish highlands tomorrow and then headed out to Notting Hill to check out Portobello Road. Portobellom, Schmortobello. Came back to King's Cross, crashed at 3pm, woke up at 9pm to eat, crashed for the night. I'm off to a geriatric start.

Still traveling after all these years

... sign went out and dinner was served I found three seats in the back with no occupants. I slept for 4 of the 6 hours. A REAL plus. I had a hard time finding my driver Stoney, but after 2 phone calls (via Algeria - my friend Caroline is there - she set up the pick up) and figuring out what my driver was trying to tell me (we both speak English, but the words are different) we hooked up. Today I met up with my friends Michelle and ...

... architecture ... it's a number four (outside the Channel 4 station in London) made entirely out of umbrellas! Here are some of my favorite pictures of Big Ben/Parliament. Parliament was in session all day today, which is supposedly a rare event. You know they are in session when the flag is flying on top of the building. This was one of my favorite buildings to look at. This building, though not much to look at, is the headquarters ...

More London Memories

... Circus. Trafalgar Square is a great place to rest while doing all your walking in London and a great picture opportunity. After spending a few minutes there, I made my way to Piccadilly Circus, took a picture of Eros, ate dinner, and did some souvenir shopping. I thought Piccadilly was going to have a lot more neon than what it did, like Times Square, but it really doesn't. After a good hour and a half, I took a taxi back to the hotel.Left aligned photo tag:

Jolly old England

... bed, and I eventually went back down there myself and passed out. That may have been the worst sleep I had in years--between French snoring, tossing and turning, creaky beds, uncomfortable mattress, and then being awoke at 5am to Frenchy poking my feet to chat, it certainly was a sleepless night. He woke me up to talk about what happened, and said it was supposed to be a joke--meanwhile, I was thinking that he was a joke! He eventually left, but the ...

... visited the Cathedral shop and bought a few things to take home. We had spent the entire morning here, and it was time for food. The Crypt Cafe did nicely. After lunch we headed outside for more pictures. It was here that we spotted Godwin talking to two girls... Godwin and talking to strangers. And strangers who were girls! Sight to behold. I think they wanted their picture taken or something. We were amused.

Next stop, Westminster Abbey. We ...

There's No Place Like London

Happy 2008 everybody! I have to say it was so much fun getting to ring in the new year in one of the most exciting cities in the world..but i will get to that in a minute. First let's start from the beginning...a very good place to start (sorry i couldn't resist.) The road to London was a very bumpy one...in every sense of the word. The bumps started even before I left the states when my oversized luggage broke in LAX before I had even checked the bags in. I ...

Transit through London

The route home was simple. Catch a British Air (BA) flight from Cape Town to London, leaving at 8:10 p.m. and arriving in London at 6:50 a.m. From there, use a pass (Paul's dad is a retired airline pilot for United) to get from London to SFO. The flight, leaving at around 10 a.m., would have me in San Francisco early afternoon, where I could catch BART and then Amtrak to Sacramento. A long journey ...

The Story So Far May 2007

... then filled it with expanding foam. This was delivered to an alloy fabricator who then created a 16 gallon foam filled safety tank, which would fit perfectly over the rear axle, like the Coombs fitting.  The car and tank were delivered to a preparation company to fit the new fuel tank, an Aston flip top filler and all the plumbing needed to allow two tanks to be used in the fuel system. We also requested a sumpguard and a new single pipe exhaust system, to run over the ...
