... inside. The guy who sold us the tickets could've told us to 1) take a coat for the boat ride and 2) bring a flashlight for the cave; but it goes with the rest, they give you just the bare minimum. Laid back, you say? Dumbass lazy, I say. The caves are nice, it's like a graveyard for buddhas, there are hundreds of them everywhere. It's a sacred place and the royal family does a pilgrimage to the caves every year at Laotian New Year sometime in April.

In ...

It was such a stark contrast to children back at home who pout and cry (hey myself included as a child!) because they don't have enough toys and always want more than they have.

Soon after dusk, the rest of the family arrived home from working in the rice fields. Our guide spent the afternoon preparing our dinner while there was still sunlight. Just before dinner was served, I was sitting outside of the house on wooden bench near the grandmother ...

Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep alastair6... probably 90 percent incomplete which meant that about 13 hours of the 14 was very bumpy. When stopping for toilet breaks we had to just go at the side of the road, alright for the men, us girls all had to scurry off and try to find a little bush or something to give us some privicy. On one toilet break in the pitch black of the night, i didn't want to go in the headlights of the bus where everyone was watching so i went behind a hut, all of a sudden a bright ...

At which time we all headed back to the Guest House for a room party. Only downside being that we'd forgot to get some booze earlier in the day to continue the drinking. So it was the quietest party ever recorded!

Next morning we had a lie in and then headed off to Kuang Si Waterfall for a swim. We swam in a couple of the waterfalls ...

Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep blummo... m planning on going North to Nong Khoi for a few nights and then take a slow boat to Muang Ngoi Neua. Another traveler told me that it was stunning here so I’m going to test it out. She said also that there was no internet service or ATM machines. Each day I’ve been trying to take out money from the ATM machines but you max out at $70 a day. After a few nights at Nong Kiau, I have to come back here before heading off to my next destination.
Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep allieadventures... really neat sight we saw was of three wee toddlers playing in a muddy puddle, they were so covered in mud they looked like chocolate kids. So cute.

Further north, after Vang Vieng, (the road still windy and bumpy) we started climbing into the high green mountains. Really a beautiful impressive sight, apart from the sheer drops and treacherous bends. Due to my fear of heights I gave up looking and hanging out of the ...
Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep nz2uk... a bottle of something in his hand, what the names of the bride and groom were, he said he couldn't remember - which gave us some idea of where we stood in the wedding guest hierarchy. The night before the wedding there was a tremendously noisy party next door where a stereo had been rigged up (that claimed to have 2400 watt speakers although I find this slightly unbelievable as this would have probably dimmed the lights in the whole town if it were true) which played one song ...
