I slipped on my bum down ..turned out to make a funny.video-afew copy cats too. we ended up.having a group slide-jess,kate and I. very funny. lunch was at a local restaurant at the base of the Lapa stairs. kate and I tried ordering some antartician beer, but ended up with something local-we don't think he understood us as we later saw heaps of the beer we wanted. we also had a local dish-some stew with beans, beef, lamb and rice-not bad. final stop on our day tour ...

... my hands. I'm glad because now I can continue to write about our trip! Next, I need to talk about the best thing ever- we went hang gliding. We went up in the mountains and you had to basically just ranoff a ledge that pointed out over the mountain. It was a real leap of faith that went against all your natural instincts not to jump off high things!!! I am so glad we did it though. It was such a wonderful and relaxing experience once you were gliding ...

... Tucan tour was spent in a hotel in the Lapa district of Rio. As nice as it was to be in a real air conditioned room with beds and hot showers, the area made us a little uneasy. Lapa is the bohemian area in Rio and apparently the heart of carnival. It's a little grungy and a little run down, and it didn't feel like the safest place in the world, but during the week of carnival the party here goes all day and night. Other areas get a couple hours off per day to recuperate ...

... it was in the afternoon so it was a bit annoying but we saw everything and we were happy we went. I've never seen anything like it
Both me and Fabian agreed that so far, Rio has been the best place we've visited! It could have been that we were just so worried from all the stories we've hear of how dangerous it is and how we were more or less certain we would get robbed, but we also had time both to relax, hang our with friends and sightsee!

... started, sliced my finger open cutting limes in Florianopolis and now this. We stopped at one of the smaller islands for some lunch and as normal island tax was in effect - £5 for a plate of chips. So we decided a liquid lunch was the only way forward and we opted for a few beers instead of food.
