Historical Traveler Reviews of Trinity Lodge Dublin
Disappointed

We found the rooms to be nice but definately not deluxe. The shower was only lukewarm, with very little pressure. The music from the dance club makes it impossible to sleep until 4:00AM. Not reccomended.
Loved Trinity Lodge

We loved Trinity Lodge and we will stay here again when we return in Sept 2006. Yes, there was noise coming from the street below, but where are you going to get quiet in a large city? Besides, we had the windows open to let in the cool night air. It did not bother me, my husband or our daughter, we all slept great. Our room was clean and large with two double beds and a nice sized bath. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good also. Excellent location.
Great B&B

I'm not quite sure what some of the negative reviews are all about. We stayed at Trinity Lodge 3 nights from a Wednesday til Friday in early August 2005. The location is excellent...a 2 minute walk to Trinity College and Grafton Street. The room was bigger than expected and bath was very nice and clean. Breakfast is one of the best features...lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, brown bread, pastries, fresh juices, and cereals were available along with whatever hot items (eggs, Irish Breakfast, etc) you order. We stayed at 5 B&B's while in Ireland and this one had the best breakfast selection of them all. Plenty to fill you up. There was a little noise one of the nights, but it was pretty far down the street so it wasn't too bad. If you are tired you will fall right to sleep, so don't let the other reviewers let you think this hotel is right on top of a nightclub or something. If you are looking to stay in the Temple Bar/Grafton/Trinity area you are going to be hard pressed to find a place that has no noise at all, as there are bars and restaurants all over the place. Overall, a great place to stay.

I would agree with the review right before this one. We just got back and possibly stayed in the same room - double beds - room #14. We were there for a Thursday and Friday night. On Thursday the music did not end until 3am - bass drum that bounced off the walls. On Friday night my husband packed pillows into the windows and we slept better. The location is perfect, however. It is close to everything, but only if you are a sound sleeper.
Disappointed.

Having read the reviews on Trinity Lodge I really looked forward to our stay there but was so disappointed.
We had two large double beds in the room which, though graded delux, was fairly ordinary. Breakfast was nice but nothing extraordinary.
Other reviewers must have stayed mid or early week otherwise they would have mentioned the very loud disco music from 50 yards up the street. Consequently--- lots of noise until the wee hours.
Favourable: Location and comfortable bed.
I highly recommend the Trinity Lodge

Never having traveled to Europe, we were a bit apprehensive about our 3-night stay in Dublin. We found our time at Trinity Lodge very enjoyable. It was very clean, the food was wonderful, and everyone was very accommodating. The location was convenient for sightseeing in old Dublin. It was a short walk to Graftin Street, Temple Bar, Trinity College, and O'Connell street. The Dublin Bus stop was practically right outside our door. Our memories of our trip to Ireland are even more special because of our stay at Trinity.
Best Location and Breakfast
from Pearl
We've stayed at Trinity Lodge two times for a total of 8 nights. It's a wonderfully intimate hotel and within easy walking distance to museums, Grafton Street, Trinity College and Cathedrals. The breakfast is fabulous, with a generous buffet of fresh fruit (raspberries in November), juices, cereal, pasteries and tea/coffee. If that's not enough, you can also request a hot breakfast in addition, with all the works, that is made to order.
On our last trip our room was at the top, on the fifth floor. The biggest drawback is that there is no lift (or baggage handlers). So we did a lot of stair climbing.
If you're looking for a full service hotel, this is not it. There is no restaurant or bar and the lobby is almost non-existent. However, it's a great place to sleep, shower and have a wonderful breakfast in a quiet location.
Great location, good value

Trinity Lodge was recommended to us by a local. It was a very good value for it convenient downtown location. Breakfasts were good, too.
The staff was excellent --very helpful and polite.
Trinity Lodge was great

We stayed at the Trinity Lodge and thought it was just great. Our room was big and, to our relief, it was very, very clean. The decor in the Georgian building was lovely! The location was great too - one block up from Trinity, 2 blocks over from Grafton St & Dame St. It was walking distance to everything, but far enough away that it wasn't noisy. This place is definitely on par with any other very nice hotel. The only issue I could see was that the shower water pressure was too low, but that's not too big a deal.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!
Loved the Trinity Lodge, very lovely surroundings

Had the pleasure and good fortune to stay at the Trinity Lodge, on my 3rd trip to Dublin. While only 13 rooms, not everyone can pile in here!
The location was perfect for all sights, buses and shopping. And the street ambience on Grafton, just around the corner. Very quiet neighborhood for a good nights' rest. Helpful and cheerful staff.
Lovely room decor. Delicious breakfast. Public parking garage across the street. No lift, but the 4 floors were easy to navigate. Looking forward to another trip to Dublin very soon, and my party will stay at the Trinity Lodge.
