Travel Blogs from Krakow
She says: Krakow was fantastic - a great place to start the trip. We began our first day (after waking up at 12:30 p.m. - oops! jet lag anyone?) with a tour of the castle and cathedral on Wawel Hill. After shuffling through the cathedral in order to avoid the hordes of Polish schoolchildren, we admired the view from the top of the hill across the …
... on an absolute high, me giving myself mental backslaps for finding this awesome festival and bringing us to Krakow. Tomorrow was going to probably be the best day of our lives: our life's aim would be complete. We would see Florence and the Machine live!!! You know how they say pride comes before a fall? Well, the universe was sending us on a spine blasting downward spiral so dismal and deep it would hence forth be known as THE WORST SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS THAT HAVE ...
... Marta, friends and fellow 126 enthusiasts for making all of us feel so welcome in their country and city, driving through Poland, following Lina as she drove, was an amazing experience, with people stopping and commenting, pointing and photographing the car as they drove by and seeing truckers talking about the car to each other at the toll stations - memorable only begins to describe today!

... Train loads of people were driven straight into the middle of the camp, herded into the gas chambers and killed. Auschwitz 111 or Monowitz came into existence when the company IG Farben (remember them?) decided to build their largest synthetic rubber and liquid fuels plant nearby. Coal, Lime, Salt and cheap labour were all close by and in massive quantities. When illness broke out at the main camp and threatened their work force, the company decided to house ...
... I thought the receptionists were unfriendly, someone stole my shampoo and conditioner, and there were only 4 bathrooms for 70-100 people. The worst part was the constant noise, both from the street level below and the hostel itself. My room was adjacent to the kitchen and had a window on to our balcony, places where there were people drinking and talking at every single hour of the night. I like to party, but I also like ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Trecius Guesthouse Krakow
I agree with the other reviews for Trecius. It is central, very clean and just a bit different from staying in a standard hotel (and much cheaper!). It's really easy to get to everything that you might want to see and there are loads of restaurants and bars close by.
We stayed in Room 2 which was large and the beds were comfortable. The only problem (and it wasn't too much of a problem) was the noise during the night as this room is on the corner of a fairly major street - drunken teenagers shouted all through the night on the second night we stayed.
If you arrive by car, there is secure parking not too far away.
I would definitely recommend Trecius.
Superb Guesthouse in central Krakow ---
If you are looking for a small reasonably priced accommodation in central Krakow look no further than the Trecius.
It is non smoking, full of character, spotlessly clean and they serve an absolutely yummy breakfast. It is a short 10 min walk from the station via the park and about a 3 min walk from the town square. They don't have a 24 hour reception but their welcoming and helpful staff will be there to meet your arrival. I give it 10 out 10
Spent four nights in two different rooms due to our late booking. The first 3 nights were in a large room just off the reception and the last night was in a smaller adjacent room. We arrived very early on the night train from Budapest but the staff hustled and had our room ready by 9:30 . We couldn't have been more pleased with the Trecius and the staff. Both rooms were extremely clean and airy and the beds were comfortable. The staff was very helpful in getting us oriented and cheerfully took care of a couple special requests I had during our stay. The central location (1 block from the main square) is ideal for exploring the old town and surrounding neighborhoods as well as just enjoying the ambiance of the place. The pastry store next door was a great test of self control which I didn't pass. Next time we get back to this part of the world we'll book early and definitely stay at the Trecius. It's that good.
Perfect place to stay
I stayed at the Pensjon Trecius in the summer of 2004. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. The bathroom was large and had everything we needed. The location can't be beat. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting the owners (they were on vacation themselves), but the young women on staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
Centralized and cozy with a great staff!
The hotel is located in a very good place within walking distance to all the major tourist attractions, shopping, restaurants, entertainment as well as little convenience stores. There is no real need to use the public transportation to get around. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful in providing our large group with restaurant and touring advice as well as any accommodation needs we needed. All the rooms are different and are clean and welcoming. This hotel I would especially recommend to anyone who wants to have a romantic getaway. Three of their rooms are perfect for that! I will definitely book this place the next time I'm in town.
Best place to stay in Cracow!!!
An extraordinarily well run small and cozy hotel located less than a five minutes walk from the heart of Cracow. Staying there you don't need to use any public transportation at all, everything is located within walking distance. All the hotel's staff is very friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English. Rooms are tidy, comfortable and very nicely decorated (each room is individual). Prices are very reasonable. It was my third visit in this hotel and I'm certainly coming back next year. No better place to stay in Cracow!!!
A Great Place to Stay
The staff was very helpful and very courteous, they all spoke excellent English. The rooms were modern and very nice. It was a great value, especially in such a convienent location. It is less than a minute walk to the main market square, with all the major tourist sites within walking distance. It would be hard to imagine a better place to stay in a city the size of Krakow.
Great location and personnel!
The owner and his staff, who all speak excellent english, were very gracious and catered to any and all needs that our large group had, including breakfast in bed for a special occasion and great recommendations for area restaurants and attractions.
Great location, great price
Hotel Trecius was recommended by a friend and proved well worth it. The hotel is a one minute walk from the Market square and ample sight-seeing/ dining/ partying locations. The staff was quite friendly (even when we woke them up at 6 in the morning because someone forgot their keys) and very helpful. If I ever return to Krakow, this will be th first place I try to stay.
