      Warm and Welcoming

Welcoming and friendly staff, great ambience and very good food. Fan rooms are quaint but clean and very spacious. Bathrooms are quite worn but functional. Rooms can be somewhat noisy from the music in the bar.

Western style restaurant. Noisy at night. Impersonal the lobby, but the room was beautiful, all of timber.

At first thought our room was 'shabby chic' but on closer inspection its just a bit dirty. Public areas are nice as are staff

      Songkron, a darker side

As I alluded to in my last entry, there is an unfortunate side to the celebrations. I don't know if I have a special knack for encountering near death experiences in developing countries, or if the propensity for them is really that high. Either way, I was witness to three life-altering injuries in the early evening of my third day in Ayuthaya. ...

      Ayutthaya

From the train station we took a small boat across the river (Ayutthaya is on an island in a river) and after a short walk we arrived at the guest house. The lad who showed us the room told us to shower before we came back down to check in - so you can only imagine the state we were in. Stinky! We decided to take a quick walk out to the nearest ...

      An afternoon in Ayutthaya
