Time to get the hell out of Dodge!

A travel blog entry by wideyedtraveler

With my tan fading and my interest levels rapidly waning, it was time to get the hell outta Bangkok. An hour and twenty minute and with the oh so simple process of just catching a river ferry, the sky train and then a minibus, I ended up in Ayutthaya. So much for my tan! ha ha.

Today we had planned for an early start. But, were woken up to rattling beds from the thunder storm, so a few more hours in bed were on the cards. 10am came around fast an we decided we needed to make a move as the storm had passed, an the weather was nice. We had breakfast and then rented old school bikes, winner! When we were offered helmets we …

Moving On

Day 4

Today was the day that we finally moved on from Bangkok, that we put what had happened behind us and started travelling!. We decide to stick to our original plan of heading to Ayutthaya, an hour north of Bangkok. Through research and the aid of the lonely planet book, we decided a minibus would be the best way as it only costs 60Baht …

In Ayuttthaya we explored the numerous temples and ruins on bicycle getting very hot and sweaty. The humidity was the highest yet – believe it or not we are looking forward to some cooler weather! For just 30p we got a train to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand. After finding a hotel we went looking for lunch in the local market. Nik found Suki, a weird seafood/cabbage/noodle soup not helping her love of Thai food. Dave wussed out and got something from the 7-Eleven.

The next day we rented bikes for 60p each to see the …

Welcoming and friendly staff, great ambience and very good food. Fan rooms are quaint but clean and very spacious. Bathrooms are quite worn but functional. Rooms can be somewhat noisy from the music in the bar.
