... your lunch hour to coincide with the daily thunderstorms. While it is tempting to always ask for the Greek Salad here (how do they get tomatoes and onions that taste like this?) we very much enjoyed the restaurant's "special salad" instead. It cost twice as much as their Greek Salad offering so we knew it would be great and it was.

Gjirokaster 15 degrees, overcast

Last day in Sarande is overcast to start with but then the sun comes out. I have breakfast at the hotel, mama makes me a nice omelette to go with usual cheeses, ham, bread and tomato. Full, I checkout and the owner drops me at the bus station. They are a lovely family and deserve to succeed with their hotel.

... the woman then bombarded me with Greek....the only real word I recognised was the one for rooms which I repeated to her, gaining her confused nod, before I called out rather desperately for Penelope the girl who worked there..... Funny! The Zagori region of Greece is undoubtedly spectacular with it's hill villages and mountain ranges and the captivating stone bridges that are just so picturesque.
