chat with him, and an even harder time trying to decipher his poker face and
smooth southern accent. As seems to be the way with the friends we make, he and
his girlfriend are moving on tomorrow, in search of more permanent
accommodation and hopefully work for him. I really wanted to ask him how long
he’d been growing his hair, but I never found the right time. Some things have

It is nice out, no sweaters today but will wear sweater and jacket tonight. The streets are crowded! No place to sit so had to stand-for almost 3 hours! Aching back!! But it was fun and glad I went. Hope I can make it to the Rose Parade next Saturday-starts around noon. I am tired tonight and on my way to bed.

... visit throughout the year?

During my contract, I get 9 vacation days and all major Korean holidays off. Being on the other side of the world, I want to take advantage of those days as much as I can, I’ll probably use those days off for travel and exploration. Aside from any type of special circumstance, I am almost certain I won’t be home until my contract expires. If I do sign on for another year, I will plan a trip home.

... fashioned nice joint next to tour of haunted underground Portland. More walking back uptown to visit the awesome Powell's books and a long peruse ( zines purchased of course)- then more beers ( my guts hurting bad from this sadly). Finally walked back down Broadway again to go and have vegan Chinese. More walking and home by 11 - I was very tired and have bad stomach from all the food and beer.. This will mean another sleepless night ...
