Good mooorning Vietnaaaaam!!

A "normal border crossing" this time in to Vietnam with no hassle, drama, bribery or extrusion…that makes for a good start. We spent the next 3 days making our way through the Mekong Delta via boat and bus and had a blast. The Delta is very different to how I imagined it and was a little disappointed at how built up and industrial it was. It was one long sprawling city that took up every nook and cranny and where there was no more space they built floating buildings – in fact our ...

Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh is huge, In Hanoi they told me the two cities were the same size, but apparently the Northerners are jealous of the Southerners and there is no comparison. I went on a City Tour today and saw the War Remnants Museum, China Town, the Presidents Palace and the Jade Emperor Pagoda.

The Main Post office and Notre Damn Cathedral were really nice too. I just wish the locals could read maps. Life would be so much easier that way!

The war museum was very moving, lots of pict...

Ho Chi Minging!

Went to the Chi Chi tunnels today. It was quite interesting as I saw all sorts of traps, weapons and an underground tunnel system. It makes you realise that the Americans really had no chance of winning against this lot. ingeneous!

It took 2 hours to get through the Saigon traffic which is a nightmare. I don't really like this city, no heart and just sprawl like Bangkok. I leave for Cambodia tomorrow morning and cant wait to get out of here!

He spoke a thousand words a minute, about three of them comprehensible, and I attempted to flee, sick of his erroneous approach. I said, "Maybe later" to be polite. No sooner had I walked three paces then I felt someone grab my shoulder - it was only him. I pulled away but he grabbed my hand and started shaking it furiously, jabbering at me ...

... find some good Lau/Hot Pot. She wrote down an intersection and told me that I should take a moto because it was pretty far. I hired the first one I saw which took less than a minute. Moto drivers are everywhere in Saigon. On the way there, we went through some intense traffic. I even brushed against some other bikers a few times. Traffic deaths are very common here; in fact, they are the leading cause of death in Vietnam.

In Saigon, the traffic system is ...

The day before we had realised we would need such a vehicle, but eerily none were around. An idea struck...we all got out the map and started scratching our heads, two seconds later one turned up. Am definetly thinking of starting up a similar business in York, and may import the ...

... in the restaurant, believe or not, which was also included in the original price! We had lunch together with two middle-aged korean guys and two young Vietnamese girls and a young Vietnamese. The cuisine was the best of what we ate in Vietnam and especially Vietnamese tea was good. After lunch, we took a calesa for a minute to visit a small cottage, where they showed us a large snake. It was so meek that I had the snake charmer put it around my neck. It was fun ...
