Carlos took us to the quiet side of town, Toure road, where all the embassies are and where the Waterfront is. This pleased me no end and I was going to be able to buy the one and only thing worth buying for our little Layla. A small back pack – a Owl – that she can take with when she and mom goes to gym. ... here but they’re doing a little bit different work and they’re not staying in the hostel so I’ve not bonded with them nearly as well. These Brits are pretty awesome though—they’ve basically taken me in as one of their own, and I’m going to be sad to see them go on Sunday, but they’re on to bigger and better (specifically more Zanzibari) things, so I don’t grudge it.

Black-Out
... The one we did find wasn't in his gate box but chatting up a girl in the carpark bit. He didn't batter an eyelid really and Jacob actually paid him to speak to a taxi driver in swahili on the phone for us to explain the situation. Joggers, families (and I mean not the locals but the expats) just went past and not one offered help or even acknowledged us with a half smile or sympathetic gaze. Everyone knew what had happened, but did nothing.
