    ... checked out a few shops too. It looks like it's quite an arty alternative town as well as having the old traditionals here too. Locals are friendly and have heaps of dogs. They take it all for granted as one does when one grows up in a place.

    But check out the photos. I have rarely repeated shots of an arch so these will be almost all different ones, of various shapes and sizes. As well as a few other things I saw on my excursion.

    ... up which had put the bridge out of operation for both cars and boats. Apparently there has been a more serious mishap at Stone (which is where we got our boat from last time). A paddle had broken in one of the locks (the paddles are the bits that respond to our vigorous winding to allow water into the locks, or stop it getting into the locks).     ... we obviously came off at a different junction and got lost. Had to ask at a garage. Ended up going back onto motorway for one junction and we found it ok must have been around 4.45pm. On ground floor and just outside is our car where we leave it until 27th. There is a NT walk round the hotel so will probably go and give it a go also have a meal either here or to a pub nearby. Went to pub Honey Bees ten mins walk away. Very nice ...

    ... kip in the car & Mal woke me up to say that we had reached the Western Dales, does that mean we turn off. Luckily he did because it was exactly where we needed to be.
