... watch, and had to giggle when a group of 5, well dressed, elderly Italians arrived with a poodle which just sat under the table. Someone spotted it being given some medication (maybe that's how they keep their dogs so well behaved indoors?!). Dinner was delicious. We all chose a pasta dish and followed up with desert. ... miles. I believe in Italy...the term defines the region...ie Tuscany or even a smaller area ie Florence. Unlike ordering lasagne in the USA, here you get lasagne. No salad, so bread, no sides. Of course you can get these items if you order them....and pay for them. Afternoon was a bit slow since we were anticipating the Italy World Cup game at 18:00! We should have gone shopping! ... and I later wandered to the Medici Chapels which were a b s o l u t e l y stunning!

The stonework and amazing marble work inside the main chapel was a highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, no photos allowed so I had to buy a couple of postcards. The gilt ceiling was just amazing too.

Sculptures by Michelangelo in a space off the main chapel were also mesmerizing. Then I realised that I hadn't been into the Duomo ...
