... wonderful seafood of Cinque Terre for the first time. It was one of the more expensive meals we've had, however, as I am realizing that Cinque Terre towns are definitely more touristy than I had at least expected. It is not an exaggeration at all when I say that there are more Americans around us than Italians. As I'm writing this we have four American women to my right drinking Pina Coladas (seriously?!).

Now we are laying on the beach, drinking local white wine, and ...

DAY 33

A travel blog entry by billyrubes on Mar 30, 2015

... slice of pizza and chocolate cake and water and headed for the platform from where my train will depart in less than an hour. Magic hour currently, so pretty. On the ride back, half way back, 2 girls and a guy sit next to me. I can tell they have issues or are at least odd. They eventually creep over into my space and start talking to me. We went home to bed quite ...

... more time to really see and absorb the cities culture. Back on the bus and we are now headed to Pisa. We arrived at the city of Pisa and didn't realise how far it was from Florence and that there really wasn't anything else here other than the Square of Miracles. Nor did I know there was all the other buildings that are part of the square that are also sinking. We have a short walk from the bus all the time trying to avoid the hawkers and finally ...

Mediocre Murals

A travel blog entry by dmatten on Apr 04, 2014

... checked out the Baptistry that was right next to the cathedral. There were marble pillars, ceiling murals, statues, sufficient light... Although the murals were pretty they didn't really speak to me. The background was gold and the figures were the ones that looked like they've been photo-shopped in. Since the background was gold it lacked bright background color which slightly detracted from its beauty in my eyes. With all the marble it was a beautiful building even ...
