Today, I woke up at 7AM, which still feels early, but I'm getting to be on Italian time so I'm happy! But since 7AM, I did everything and I'm finally sitting in bed (it's 2:20AM). I had my final orientation, and then classes start on Monday, and then I went exploring with my roommates! I am so happy and surprised that I am feeling so adjusted and at home already. I thought I would feel so much more homesick and sad, but I've been so busy that I haven't had time to feel sad ...

We were driving along and I could see the tall buildings on the hill and wondered what city it was. I thought they were skyscrapers. Luca explained that it was an ancient ...

After the Uffizi we decided a day of wandering the town and shopping might be in order. A light lunch and a few purchases over the next couple of hours led us eventually to Spritz o'clock at the Cibrea Caffe in Sant'Ambrogio ... Conveniently just around the corner from home.

Back at 1865 now pondering the Livornese fish stew which is most probably on the menu tonight at Trattoria ...

Had a 1 1/2 hour fast train trip but only got up to 247kms this time. We are staying in a nice little apartment very central to everything. Once settled in we went for a walk around the streets which, like Rome, are narrow but seem to be in better condition. There are street markets everywhere but all selling the same things including cheap rip offs of Italian leather, souvenirs, scarfs, jumpers.

We we found a homey cafe and had yummy afternoon tea then ...

Today I had my first class in Florence. It is my lighting design class that I will have every monday. It's so cool that all of my classes are only once a week. They are really long though. My lighting class runs from noon until 2:30. Most of my other classes are 2 and 1/2 hours long. Except tomorrow...that one is 5. It's my studio class which I expected to be my longest class. It always is at Endicott but there it's only 3 hours tops. So this is going to be ...
