... We had planned on spending the night there but since we were now on Pacific time it was only 12:30 so we pressed on to Washington State to stay at the Fam Camp at Fairchild AFB. So far Eastern WA has been a huge disappointment. Unfortunately, it reminds me of days spent in southwest OK and North Texas.

... of eastern Washington (see Mary's pictures). The whole route paralleled railroad tracks but I was disappointed in what we did not see. As we left Everett we paced a very small train, two locomotives pulling two caboose. This is the main line over Steven's Pass but there did not appear to me much traffic on it. ... so I got four different IPA's . . . and they were all very good! The picture makes these look like mugs . . . but they are not more than a pint . . . sort of like holding the little fish out front to make it look larger!!
Then, it was back to the station . . . I took some pictures of the improved digs that I am posting . . . . The queuing was the usual Amtrak uncertainty and confusion . . . we thought the sleepers would be boarded separately and ...
Picked up the car today, we were expecting an economy white chevy thing.....no... She upgraded us to a sporty black fiat 500. It shifts.... We have decided to call it sophia loren. Filled the whole tank for twenty quid, only used half to get to spokane, Its a bit in the sticks and the waitress nearly died when we asked for whole bottle of wine...they didnt know which buttons ...
... here is to one of the best trips I have ever taken! good times, good company, good friends and Great driving!
Its time to call it a night as we have a long drive to get back home tomorrow. we are heading up to the border and then to Cranbrook, Fernie and then home!
