    ... to imagine scenarios in which the manager could be forgiven for having made this change: the previous pitcher fell down the dugout steps and broke his leg at the end of the previous inning. Previous pitcher got called away to his dying mother's side. Previous pitcher has history of demonstrating that he can get three guys out and then gives up 14 runs without logging another out. Must have been something dramatic.

    ... Though I will have to tell her that I haven't found a man this side of the Atlantic (Grandad says that I am far too busy for a man with all my PhD work to be thinking about...!!)

    Anyway, this entry I will keep short. More tomorrow. I even have a 'stand in' story just in case nothing exciting happens. I'm sure you, my lovely readers, will not be disappointed (or maybe you will? Who knows).

    ... up with Leigh and we caught the subway to Carrol St Station at Brooklyn
    ( 25 minutes) for a meeting. Love the neighbourhood with the brownstones, local cafes and village style living. Could so live somewhere like this ! Brooklyn has 2.5 million people

    ... he bashes it out to just off the front of the green into the aforementioned fescue fringe. The 48 comes out, it gets hooded, the putting stroke applied, caps lock OOOPPS! chunk, flub double hit - Wipe! Ball Count low again only 9 but I have a feeling tomorrow and trump might be different. Dinner at Rye bar and grill for a second night, good food and live music washed down with ample frivolity. Off to bed 5:30 AM for Trump National ...

    ... around 6:30am - we do not have to deal with that climb first thing :) !! Ahhhhhh.....the sound of planes taking off and landing......will surely make the 5.5 hours of sleep peaceful tonight! Waking up early, got a good start to the 24 miles we are aiming for. Good things about hiking out early, cool temps, cool breeze, no sun, no other hikers.
