Traveling to Oxford - Our Final Destination

We woke up in the morning at 6am wide awake. Our internal clocks are very confused having lost 7 hours so we are having some bad times adjusting. We laid in bed for a while but were soon up and moving and on with our day. The bed and breakfast we stayed in was very run down and defiantly not the best in the world so we decided to skip the breakfast as the man who checked us in came to the door with no shirt on and was pretty dirty looking so we weren't too trusting on him cooking for us. Ins...

Wondering The Streets of Oxford

This morning we were up at 7am and headed downstairs for our complimentary breakfast. It's a very basic menu with only a couple options but you don't expect much from a B&B. They had a buffet line that had cereals, yogurt, fruit salad, and oats to mix with yogurt. There was also fresh squeezed orange juice. We ordered our meals and coffee and got more instant coffee. Really missing the perked coffee as you can't find it anywhere around here. The breakfast was amazing and we made sure we ...

Another Walk Around Oxford

Like most mornings we were up nice and early at the crack of 7am and headed down for breakfast. Nothing beats bacon and eggs every morning cooked for you. The weather had cleared up and we had some blue skies that we wanted to take advantage of so we headed out and began yet another walk towards city center. We tried to take a new route but kept ending up back at the same roads we took yesterday as everything is built around city center and connects to it like a giant spider web. Having arri...

The Flat Viewing Day - Come On Home

Up bright and early we ate our breakfast and headed out map in hand. Our first viewing was at 11am and was located in the county of Littlemore. The entire city could be classified as Oxford but it was actually only the central area that was called Oxford, the rest of the city was broken down into counties. It was a long walk but the bus routes weren't too helpful in getting there so we started trucking and after an hour and a half of walking we arrived. Our first impressions from the outside...

The Fight For A Home

We headed down to the Agencies and began talks with Daniel (first viewing). We explained our make or break on this deal was to take procession by Friday and while he said he wasn't sure he would fight as hard as he could to get it arranged. We were also able to get the landlord down from £1000 p.c.m to £950. Not a huge savings but we were already looking at £810 a month for the old flat above the store. We talked it over and said that we figured it was worth the extra money as it was four ti...

Locking It Down And Getting The Rest Of Our Bags

First thing in the morning we headed down to Daniels office and began to fill out the forms. Holding deposit paid and sheets signed the day we had longed for had finally arrived. When we stepped out of the office it was official, we had our home and we would be in it by Saturday. All the stress's and worries of being homeless were finally melting away and when thinking back on it from start to finish from when we landed till Saturday when we take possession it was only 9 days. Not bad at all...

The Rest

And on the 7th day in Oxford... we rested! We slept in, we watched TV, we did nothing, and it was good. Having been on the move constantly we needed a day to chill and stress gone we finally took one.

The Day Disaster Struck

The day had finally arrived. After spending 9 days in hotels we were finally going to get the keys to our new flat and finally be able to put our feet down. Up bright and early we were all smiles and full of excitement as we were finally able to move in. We were up early, had a good breakfast and on the bus heading downtown. We weren't going to be able to get our keys till noon but our checkout time was at 10am so we figured we would just hang out at a cafe till our meeting. We talked to the...

Moving Day - We Finally Have A Home

We got up this morning once again with high hopes and picked up some bus passes and headed downtown. We arranged with the landlord to leave our bags at the guest house again and made our way downtown. We had some time to kill as our meeting was at noon so we visited a cafe and played some monopoly on my laptop for a while then headed to the office. After so many bumps in the road we finally got our keys. We returned to the letting agency and they had the paperwork and we began signing our li...
